How can we increase engagement and interaction for diverse content through personalized educational experiences?

Target Audience
What We Watch Is Heavily Influenced by Where We Live and the Cultural Communities We Associate With

Viewers have an unlimited number of friend and family circles to watch TV shows and movies with.
User Research
Viewers Rely on Their Communities to Learn About New Streaming Content
Since 83% of participants rely on word of mouth and 75% of participants rely on social media, we needed to:
Provide curated content for viewers and their viewing communities (aka the people they watch content with) AND
Make sure viewers had a way to organically share their word-of-mouth marketing through conversation
Videos and Readings Provide Further Exploration
Since audiences preferred watching informational videos and reading articles to learn more about the content they watched, we needed to:
Make sure viewers had more educational content (videos + articles) to explore after their viewing experience
Popularity and Insight Drive Content Interaction
Since users are more likely to click on a new TV show or movie based on metrics and previews of the content itself, we needed to:
Highlight movies the way they are already displayed while integrating markers for popularity and location
Product Requirements
Users appreciate personalized and curated content to expand their interests & promote meaningful engagement → Markers for a film or show’s country of origin show a viewer a spatial representation of where they are taking their viewing experience.
Users indicate an interest in exploring relevant topics after the viewing experience → Markers for topics covered show a user what they can get out of their viewing experience.
Viewers want an easy way to watch new content with those they love → A feature that combines user’s streaming data to provide recommended content for a viewer's distinct viewing communities.
